We’re excited to welcome Blackpool & the Fylde College (B&FC) back to PLAY Expo Blackpool once again, but this time they're bringing everyone! We have the best of their School of Computing, but for 2025 we also have the School of Arts are coming too and the team plans to give visitors the chance to discover courses, meet staff, and get hands-on with inspiring projects.
At the School of Computing, you’ll find pathways from school-leaver programmes right through to specialist degrees in software engineering, networking, cyber security, games development and more. Whether you dream of coding the next big hit, designing networks, or exploring digital futures, the team will be on hand to answer your questions.
The School of Arts joins PLAY Expo Blackpool for the very first time! Offering creative courses in photography, fashion (or in the case of this savvy writer, Fashion & Costume), graphic design, media production, music and performance, the school connects creativity with real-world careers in the arts and media industries. Staff will showcase student work and share how courses can help turn passion into a profession.
Alongside their expo stand, B&FC is hosting an exciting programme of Side Quest workshops each day — hands-on sessions where you can roll up your sleeves, learn new skills, and walk away with something you’ve made yourself.
Side Quest Timetable (Saturday and Sunday)
12:00 – Wire Up. Link Up. Level Up. (School of Computing)
Build and test your own Ethernet cable, then jump straight into a LAN game — and take your cable home!
13:00 – Code It. Craft It. Play It. (School of Computing)
Learn coding inside Minecraft using CrowPi kits to create new in-game features and bring ideas to life.
14:00 – Stream It. Style It. Share It. (School of Arts)
Set up your own pro-style live stream with OBS Studio — overlays, graphics, webcam, gameplay, the lot.
15:00 – Model It. Shape It. Throw It. (School of Computing)
Create a custom 3D Pokéball (and more!) using industry-standard modelling software.
16:00 – Sketch It. Shape It. Style It. (School of Arts)
Design your own character costume concept inspired by fantasy, sci-fi or superheroes.
Each workshop lasts 40 minutes and spaces are limited — don’t miss your chance to take part!
